Showcase: CAD design "Tank filler neck optimization"

Since then, a commercially available fuel canister has had to be optimized for manual refueling of a Formula 4 vehicle in order to enable the tank to be filled. The Tatuus F4 GEN II racing car was equipped with a leak-free quick coupling from the “Stäubli Schnellkupplung SPT” brand. The GEN I predecessor vehicle was equipped with a normal tank filler neck with a cap and with a flexible filler hose, refueling with the 20L canister worked without any problems. Due to the vertical filling, the fuel canister is placed upside down with the coupling. However, the existing plastic construction is too weak to absorb the forces. Therefore, a concept had to be developed in order to attach a reinforcement (read more in the project report for download….)
